Ruff Camp~!

DAY 1:
Marina Ancol = Arrived an hour and a half early, legs went numb
Boat Trip = Made jokes about Craig being seasick for 25 minutes ^^
Room = Unpacked, socialized and started the snack savings
Pep rally = regulations, lots of cheering and losing my voice
Games = lots of running and sweaty-ness
Lunch = indo food all the way -.-
Free time = swimming on the beach with roomies
Dinner = indo food...again and socializing
Hall = Chatting and playing piano
Service = singing, laughing, crying a little bit
Restaurant = chatting over drinks and bending forks
Sleep = Midnight after watching the end of Night at The Museum 2

DAY 4:
Room = Woke up late and showered in under 5 minutes *BONUS POINTS*
Breakfast = Ate mostly bread and orange juice and bent forks
Hall = More anonymous notes and face paint for team spirit
Service = singing, jumping, laughing and crying :3
Games = Too much running across corals and hot concrete with no shoes >.<
Lunch = (pokes at the fried squid with the end of my fork cautiously)
Free Time = Swimming, chicken fights, baptisms and scoping hot guys
Soccer Game = Cheered on every team but my own, socialized, danced K-Pop with Kris
Dinner = Freaking indo food! Die!

Moving

I'm moving to Pondok Indah! Yeah~! (Like 3 minutes away from your house Sultana, no joke)

Yeah. We found some awesome houses, and this one house we really liked had this HUGE basement and master bedroom and just tons of space. My mom said "Maya, you could have some sick parties here." (OMG Mom, did you seriously just say that! LOL XD) But the landlady was a crab so we had to move on.

We found another one and the landlord is really accommodating and stuff, so we pretty much have it. My dad's company has to do inspections and stuff, but I'm not really worried about that.

It turns out that the house was David P.'s (one of Cecily's friends. He had a party and they played Spin The Bottle...very awkwardly if I might add :D) and she get's his old room. It's SO BIG! IT'S NOT FAIR!!

Oh wells. It's a nice house and I get to walk by Sultana's in the morning to get to school! :D Awesomeness

Waterlogged

Got caught in the floods yesterday?

Yesterday, there was so much rain and traffic that it took 3-9 hours for people to get home from work or school. Normally, Jakarta has tons of traffic, but add rain to it and its the recipe for disaster. People who had volleyball practice yesterday that took the late buses at 5:00 pm reached their houses at 12:15 am. GAAAHHH!
My dad was in a gridlock for 3 1/2 hours at Fatmawati and had to stop at KFC for dinner, but it didn't matter though because the car was frozen in one spot so he could go inside. haha. My friend who lives in Bintaro was stuck in traffic so bad, she got out of her car, walked home, and beat the driver by 2 1/2 hours. Ouch.

Strangely for me, I left normal time and I got home in 15 minutes :D

BIS Track Meet

Track and Field Season is overrr!!
BOOO!! I LOVE TRACK AND FIELD!!

We went to BIS for the final meet of the season. We left JIS at 7:15 and it took us about 40 minutes to get there, and when we did, it didn't start until about 8:30 GAAAHH! I HATE WAITING!! PLUS we could only do one or two events! ANNOYING!

Since it rained last night, it was really slippery (grass track UGH) and there were mud pits everywhere! We couldn't walk across the "track" without getting our feet stuck in mud. Oh well.

Our relay team (Lieke, Eddie, Nicole, and Me) got first place YAY! Mrs. Whitley made a typo on the event lists and replaced Nicole with Nora (oi). I was the 3rd runner and I got our team into first place position GO ME! But we all ran shorter distances because one lap is 300 meters, so the relays were 4x75 instead of 4x100.

I also did shotput (originally i wasn't supposed to do it, but I was replacing SeiYon Lee because she didn't show up) and got first place (7.31 meters) but I think the shots were 1 kg heavier than we are used to so I threw one meter shorter than normal. But I don't know.

All in all, I think I wasted a morning at BIS.

My favorite part of ESP was the dance (I'm sorry I don't have any pictures from it, but I forgot my camera so I have to get them from someone else). It was kind of annoying how they kept on repeating songs, but Mrs. Titus said it was because that the dance was going to be for only 45 minutes. :(

Now that I think of it, it was probably a little more than embarrassing for me to up on stage and dance THAT MANY TIMES. :| I've heard people saying that I should date Yohannes because we dance pretty much the same (a lot of people didn't know I could dance until Thursday). :) I had to slow-dance with Lucas :| I have a feeling he was one of the only people brave enough to come up to me and actually ask me to dance (for the 2nd time that week :P) Other people are too scared (Nick "Gomez" said that I looked like I came out of a Disturbia - Rihanna music video :( so very encouraging).

Dance 2

Last Wednesday (as you already know), I had Dance Club auditions with Valentina. Ms. Parent taught us 2 different dances: this really fun hip hop one, and a jazz/conteporary one. (they were both fun, but I liked the hip hop one better. :D) Today, there was a sign posted outside Mr. Boots' office showing what dances we are going to be in. (After the auditions, the high school choreographers started making 'wish lists' of people that they wanted in their dance.) I saw my name and was in:

TUESDAY - Hip Hop/Contemporary :)
WEDNESDAY - Ballet ( :( I HATE ballet!!!)

Val got: MONDAY - Bollywood Fusion (haha)
            WEDNESDAY - Ballet (haha she has it the same day as me :D)

Today I'm in it alone!! :(

Dance

Last tuesday during luch, a lot of kids went down to the Bali Stage for the Clubs Fair. The Club Fair is basically a chance to sign up for anything that you want to do afterschool like horseback riding, scuba diving, frisbee, and a bunch of other other stuff. Teachers set out a bunch of tables with sign-up sheets on them and we just write in our name, ID number, cell number, and something else.

The top 3 clubs that I were thinking about were: (1) Drama Club (they get to do this production type of thing) (2) Improv Club (playing a bunch of games the whole time, like in drama :D) (3) Dance club :)

Val and I signed up for Dance club. I signed up for it because (A) Drama club was already full by the time I got there (B) I like to dance (a lot) (C) Val was thinking about doing it as well (ok, well not exactly. I kind of made her sign up.)

Today we have auditions. On the announcements, they said that nobody would get kicked out (which made Val kind of disappointed :D), the auditions are only for seeing what level you are and what group you need to be put in. We can also pick the days we can attend, then Ms. Parent will put us in the group that rehearses on those days. I'm doing Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday because (1) I have KUMON on Monday and Thursday (2) Nora has basketball on the same days and we can hang out by the buses together. Val is doing Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Point is, today is auditions and I am REALLY EXCITED AND NERVOUS. Wish me luck!! :P

DOG!

For a long time, I have been bugging my parents to get me a pet. I was really laying it on them last week when my mom suggested that I write a 'proposal.' She said that a proposal would: (1) strengthen my persuasive writing skills :D (2) how that I was responsible enough to take care of one by telling her what I would do to take care of it. So I did a little research.

I always thought cats were cute and all (and I really wanted one for almost four years.) But my mom brought a few things to my attention: (1) Here, the cats are small enough to crawl through the barbed wire on top of the walls and can go into someone elses yard (2) If the cat is let outside, it has an opportunity to go through the garbage can (3) can jump the pool fence and drown :( (4) will take a long time to get trained to the litter box. And as you have probably guessed, I don't want to walk around my house stepping in cat poop. So I looked at dog breeds.

There was this really informative website with this HUGE list of dog breeds. I wanted a German Sheperd, BUT my mom said that it might not be good when we have guests over AND the dog I picked couldn't be huge. So I picked a small dog that looked kind of like a German Sheperd with a funny name: a Shiba Inu.

THEY ARE SOOOOO CUTE!! They make good guard dogs but can be agressive. Shiba Inu's are also hyper a lot (like me) and need a lot of exercise. I thought about this and made a really good four-page-long (including cover page) proposal and sent it downstairs.

The next morning, my mom and dad came to talk to me about it. They said it was really well written and sounded like I was going to do a lot to take care of it. BUT...they said I had to pick a different breed because they could be a bit agressive with strangers

:(. I guess I have to keep looking.

Trust

Yesterday, I was finishing up my homework on the floor in my parents bedroom when my sister asked my dad for a flashdrive. I was jealous for a few reasons: (1) my flashdrive is really old and doesn't have a lot of space left on it (2) has been through the washing machine twice and I don't think works anymore (3) I don't know why my sister needs one anyway. My dad willingly agreed. Then I thought, 'Hey. My sister asked really nicely for a flashdrive and she got it. Maybe if I ask really nicely I can get the laptop that I wanted for Christmas...or better yet, offer to pay more than half the price!' So I asked my dad,

"Daddy, I am willing to pay more than half the price for a laptop or new iPod, since mine is wearing out and all."

Ok. I realize that wasn't exactly a question, but was a pretty good offer. My dad was about to say something when my sister said,

"Oh ya! Daddy? Do you know those new nanos that have the video camera on the back? Can I please have one of those? They have a plug-in for headphones so you can listen by yourself, or you can take the headphones out and it will play through this special speaker! My friend has one and she said they are really cool. Plus they come in different colors!"

Then my dad said to her, "Well, that is something to hope to get for your birthday." Then he looked at me. "Maya, how many times have you lost your phone?" I didn't really like where this conversation was going. "Um...3 times?" "Do you think that you deserve a laptop at the moment?" I was really not liking this. "Um...no?" "I am glad that you are willing to help pay for the laptop, but the truth is, I was going to get you one for Christmas, but your mother and I have decided that we can't trust you." Now I was kind of confused. "What?" "Your mother feels like she has to lock the office door to keep you from using the computer there! Do you know how that makes us feel?" I was a bit shocked. "You have to show more responsibility before you can get things like that. Maybe you should follow your sister's example. She hasn't lost her phone ONCE. So if we can learn to trust you, maybe you will get one." Then he left.

So, I think, the whole point of that speech was to tell me to: (1) get my act together (2) do something that will get my parents trust back (3) to now copy Cecily (4) to not lose my phone anymore. So basically, don't expect anything if you can't follow the rules.

School is starting tomorrow! It is soooo weird. 3 weeks of weekend and BOOM! school starts. (I have to admit though. 2 weeks of vacation is enough for me. :D) See you guys tomorrow!!

Just to let you know...

I think you all should know: I have to grow my nails out before I get my haircut (and of course, that's not working out at all) so I might not have it when we get back in. :(

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR PEOPLE!! IT IS FINALLY 2010!! YESSSSS!!!

Ok...

ok ok ok. i didn't blog on christmas day. i was going to but was really busy. so sue me. (btw, i got the 4, 5, and 6 harry potter movies! YAY!)

Cookie Time!!

Around 1:30 today, my mom, Sebastien, Cecily, Sasha, and I decided to make Christmas cookies.

Of course, whenever my family does something together, it turns out to be a great memory. Today my brother and I made cut-out cookies, Cecily made jelly cookies, and Sasha and Yuyun (my maid) made sugar cookies. We had turned on music and churned out a few batches when my mom decided to come around and pat peoples faces with flour. (that's how I got my face dirty. Cecily did hers by herself. She dunked her nose in a flour bowl. But Sasha got hers out of trying new things.) Then we got to decorate the cookies. The animal cookies were the most fun to decorate. My mom made the icing and put it in a BAGUS bag and cut a hole in one end. Then we squeezed the bag and decorated the cookies. We had snowmen, stars, holly, bells, Christmas trees, angels and reindeer. We put sprinkles and ChaChas on the cookies too.

With my scraps, I made these really small balls of cookie dough and baked it, and as soon as they came out of the oven, I dunked each one in powdered sugar and stuck mini chocolate chips in the cookie. Then I sprinkled a little bit more sugar on top. It looked like the chocolate chips were hiding out in the snow!

My sisters cookies were the best though! She cut out circles of cookie dough and separated them equally onto her workspace. On one side she cut small circles in the middle of the dough. Then she baked it. As soon as they got out of the oven, she took strawberry jam and put a spoonful on a circle. Then she put the cut-out circle onto the top like a sandwich. It was SOOOO good!

You see? This is the kind of stuff that keeps me on my toes during the holiday seasons. And we all get a laugh out of it in the end!
