Does your family share feelings like Jonas' family? Should they? What may have happened that caused the community to make it a rule each family must do this? What's behind it?

thank you. it took a while :-)
my family does share feelings, but its more like "what did you do during the day? was it exciting?" and stuff like that.
i don't think i can come up with a reason for the sharing of feelings until we read further on. maybe a lot of built-up feelings during the "big accident" earlier. (another quick question. are the Elders on patrol during the evening meals? to see if they follow the ritual?)
