PercyJackson already has enough problems in his life, but now that he is moved to a magical camp where mythical creatures come alive, his life seems like a fairy tale. But when things get serious as Zues' master bolt and Hades helm of darkness, Percy must return these magic items to rightful owners before war breaks out. He need the help from his friends, Annabeth and Grover, to stop this disaster in the making from happening. My favorite part of the story is when they encounter Medusa at Aunty Em's Garden Gnome Empurium where she freezes visitors into cement and sends them to the gods. She practically hypnotized the group with her delicious cheeseburgers and then tried to freeze them, but Percy cut her head off. I think that this book is a really great beginning to the series!! You have got to read it!!

The Wide Window
****
Yet again, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire move, this time to Aunt Josephines house near Lake Lachrymose by Damocles Dock. Aunt Josephine is a very timid person, and didn't realized that when had befriended Captian Sham, he was really Count Olaf! When Aunt Josephine's stange and mind-rattling disapperance turns the well-oiled gears in the orphans heads, they realize that they have to save her before they fall into Count Olaf's clutches. My favorite part is when Aunt Josephine shows them the house and what not to touch, like the sofa, welcome mat, doorknobs, stove, and telephone. This is a really great book. I hope you will put the effort into reading it!!
The Reptile Room
Lemony Snicket
****
The Baudelaire's have moved again, this time, into the country. Uncle Monty has agreed to adopt and share his big house with them. But when Count Olaf comes back disguised as Stephano and has planned to whisk the orphans away on their upcoming trip to Peru. But, when Uncle Monty ripped up Stephano's ticket because he thought he was a spy from his herpetology company, Count Olaf Uncle monty and tried to convince Mr. Poe that he died of a snake bite and made a will letting him take care of the children, but the authorites came and Count Olaf got away. My favorite part of the book is when Stephano arrives and tries to reason with the children that he is not Count Olaf, but they don't believe him, so he threatens to cut of one of Sunny's toes. If want to know what happens next, you have to read it to find out!!
The Mysterious Benedict Society and The Perilous Journey
The Mysterious Benedict Society and The Perilous Journey
*****
The fabulous foursome are back in this spectacular sequel to The Mysterious Benedict Society! Mr. Benedict and Number Two have been kidnapped!! It is up to Reynie, Sticky, Kate, and Constance to rescue them before they have to face the dreaded Mr. Curtain, Ten Men, and former Executives from the Institute. They only have to use their wits and resources to save them. My favorite part is when the Ten Men try to torture the children when they find them on the island. Their equipment is shock watches, poisonous pocket-hankies, lazer pens, whip ties, and razor pencils and were about to hurt the children with all of those nasty items until Milligan shot them all with his tranquilizer gun. This is even better book than the first one!!

Earthquake!!!

Animals sensed it. News stations reported it. Then we felt it. With the magnitude of 7.4, the earthquake brought death and destruction to Java. Of course, since Indonesia is in the ring of fire, we have earthquakes almost all the time, but this one was one that the 6th grade and I think was another great example of nature in action. We had a tsunami warning because, you know, since we are so close to the coast, we would probably have a tsunami, but no. The ocean of which the earthquake was taking place was on the other side of Java, so it was very likely that we wouldn't have a tsunami. Since Jakarta is flat, we had no landslides, but as we moved deeper into the island, were the mountains were, landslide started to occur. This is an enviornment working.
But think of this now, readers. If you put people into the disasterous picture, what would happen then? I'll tell what happened. House were destroyed, inoccent lives were taken, and derbis was tossed. On that note, think about this. If we hang things from the ceiling, for whatever the reason, it could kill us! Those things could rattle and fall, then kill us! This, was what happened when we put people in the picture. This was the earthquake.
